What is Makgeolli?

Makgeolli is an ancient Korean drink rice wine

It is made from a mixture of wheat and rice with nuruk , which gives it a milky whitish color, and a sweet flavor . It is made by fermenting a mixture of boiled rice, wheat and water, and contains an alcohol level of 6.5–7%. Most makgeolli now contains more wheat than rice, and some brands contain no rice at all.
It is traditionally served in a large metal or wooden bowl from which individual cups or bowls are filled using a ladle. As it is an unfiltered drink, it is usually shaken or stirred before drinking.
